After a 13 year absence from General Hospital, Antonio Sabato Jr. will reprise his role of John “Jagger” Cates on this upcoming season of the GH spinoff General Hospital: Night Shift. His character returns to Port Charles with his 5 year old son Stone (named after his deceased brother).

In 1994, Sabato left the soap to break into primetime. His first role post GH was portraying Alonzo Solace on the NBC series Earth 2. After the series was canceled after only one season, Sabato signed on for a multi-episode stint on the popular FOX primetime soap Melrose Place. Afterwards, Sabato Jr. kept his career going, booking various guest appearances on primetime shows such as Ally McBeal, Charmed, Becker, Joey, as well as made for TV movies and film work.

In 2004 he co-starred in the WB series The Help alongside Tori Spelling and Brenda Strong, playing the role of Dwayne, a fitness trainer. In June 2005, Sabato joined the cast of The Bold and the Beautiful as Dante Damiano. Over the course of the next year, Sabato’s character was the romantic love interest for Bridget (played by Ashley Jones) and Felicia (Lesli Kay). Sabato also appeared on the VH1 reality series But Can They Sing?, a show that had celebrities singing in an American Idol-like competition where the winner’s charity would receieve $50,000. In 2006, Sabato was cut from B&B.

The second season of NightShift begins airing on SOAPnet on Tuesday July 22nd at 11PM EST.
