Genie Francis’ ‘General Hospital’ Return Extended

Francis' Return Extended

It looks as if Genie Francis (Laura Spencer) will stick around a bit longer than expected. Returning August 25, initial reports indicated her return would be short lived, as she was only supposed to be around for a month. According to Soap Opera Digest, Genie will now be around through October.

Genie’s return will kick off a major storyline for her on screen daughter, Lulu (played by Julie Marie Berman), as she finds herself on the verge of a mental breakdown after murdering her ex-boyfriend Logan (Josh Duhon) in self-defense. Tortured by the guilt, Lulu begins having hallucinations while on the run with her boyfriend Johnny (Brandon Barash). While visiting her mother in Shadybrooke, Lulu visits her mother and confides her her secret. Lulu struggles with the guilt of killing a man and Laura wakes up to help her daughter deal with the turmoil

Though fans are thrilled to see the character of Laura return, many wish it was more of a long-term deal. Genie has gone on record stating she’d love to return, but the show hasn’t shown any interest. That conflicts with “GH” head writer Robert Guza Jr., who continues to “wish” they had Genie back. Maybe it’s time to stop wishing and make it a reality.

It’s suspected this storyline will play out well into November Sweeps. Look for Genie Francis to re-appear on “GH” starting on August 25th.
