Another Soap Vet Headed To AMC

Soap veteran Frank Runyeon (ex-Steve, ATWT) has signed on for a recurring role on AMC.

Reese Williams (Tamara Braun) is getting a family. Frank Runyeon has landed the role of Reese’s father, Forrest Williams. What we do know about this role is that Forrest Williams and the rest of their family do not accept their daughter’s sexual preference. There is a lot of tension between the two. Runyeon will start taping in mid-November. The role is recurring.

Runyeon is best known as one half of the As the World Turns supercouple Steve and Betsy Andropoulos (Meg Ryan). Runyeon started on ATWT in 1980 and quickly became a fan favorite in the triangle of Steve/Betsy/Craig. Ultimately Steve and Betsy found true love together and have a child together, Dani. Runyeon had many soap opera roles including stints on Santa Barbara from 1998-1991, Falcoln Crest in 1990, General Hospital in 1992 and Another World in 1994. He also appeared on Melrose Place in 1996.

Runyeon has won national acclaim for his work as a translator and performer of Biblical texts. He tours the states performing the gospel for thousands across America.

Runyeon is just one of many soap veterans that have appeared on AMC recently. Laura Bonarrigo-Koffman (Rebecca; ex- Cassie, OLTL), Laurance Lau (ex-Greg), Tamara Braun (Reese; ex-Carly, GH) and Eden Riegel (Bianca) are just some of the high profile soap veterans to appear on AMC this year.

Daytime Confidential is reporting the there will be another character returning to All My Children. We will soon be seeing Di Henry, the beloved half sister of Dixie Martin, will be back to the Pine Valley canvas. But before you get your hopes up, Kelli Giddish, who portrayed Di the first time is not returning. Heather Kenzie will be assuming the role of Di Henry. Word is that Di will be back for two days and will interact with Aidan. This isn’t the first daytime appearance for Kenzie. The actress previously had a brief appearance as a dayplayer on AMC (like her predeccessor Kelli Giddish). She was also a dayplayer on As the World Turns and Guiding Light. She has also appeared on Law and Order: SVU and the P.A.

One has to wonder, if Di is only here for two days and she interacts with Aidan…what will happen between the former lovers?
