Adrienne Barbeau Joins Cast of 'GH'

Television and film star Adrienne Barbeu joins the cast of “General Hospital.”

Veteran actress Adrienne Barbeau joins the cast of ABC’s General Hospital later this summer as Suzanne Stanwyck, a woman who runs a children’s charity in Italy. TVGuide’s Michael Logan broke the exclusive, reporting that Adrienne’s character will be involved with Brenda (Vanessa Marcil). Her first appearance will be with Brenda in Rome on August 12. Eventually both Suzanne and Brenda will find their way to Port Charles.

“Despite her hard edge, Suzanne has a lot of love for others, including Brenda — she’s her confidante, so to speak,” said head writer Robert Guza. “As we get to know Suzanne better, she’ll have a surprising feminine side.”

Many may remember Adrienne in her stand out role of Carol Traynor in Maude from 1972-1978. She has since appeared in numerous television shows and feature films. Some of her television credits include, Fantasy Island, Hotel, Murder, She Wrote, Babylon 5, Batman, Star Trek Deep Space Nine, Grey’s Anatomy and most recently The New Adventures of Old Christine. Her film career began in 1980 when she appeared in The Fog with Jamie Lee Curtis and lead to other roles including, The Cannonball Run, Creepshow, and Demolition Man. She also starred in the HBO series Carnivale as Ruthie. Her autobiography “There Are Worse Things I Could Do” reached #11 on the LA Times Best Seller’s List. She published her first novel “Vampyres of Hollywood” in 2008.

The role of Suzanne is said to be a short term, but she could be sticking around longer than expected.
