'Hung' Star Stephen Amell Cast As The Green Arrow

0

Stephen Amell has been tapped as the lead for The CW’s “Green Arrow” series.

The Hung star has been cast as Oliver Queen, billionaire playboy who dons leather and multiple tech bow and arrows to fight crime in the streets of Star City as Green Arrow. The series, which was ordered to pilot earlier this month, is helmed by Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim.

Most recently, Amell was appeared as Scott Becker on ABC’s Private Practice, where he had a recurring role. The young star was a series regular during the final season of HBO’s Hung where he played Jason, the younger and equally endowed rival to Thomas Jane’s Ray. He also starred in the Lifetime TV movie, Justice for Natalee Halloway, where he played Joran van der Sloot

Amell is no stranger to The CW, appearing on 90210 as Jim and as a werewolf named Brady during season two of The Vampire Diaries.

In 2010, the 30-year olds profile was raised when he was in contention to take over the role of Spartacus on the hit Starz series, eventually losing out to Liam McIntyre. His other credits include The New Girl, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, NCIS: Los Angeles, HeartLAnd, Rent-a-Goalie and the supernatural soap Dante’s Cove.

My Take: I really like Stephen Amell. Though I’m disappointed that Justin Hartley won’t be Green Arrow, I’m looking forward to Amell’s take on the role. His work is solid and he certainly has the physique it off.
