Randy Orton has been pulled from the cast of WWE’s new film, The Marine: Homefront, due to the star’s controversial real-life military record.

Just days after it was reported that WWE superstar Randy Orton would be the lead in WWE Studios’ new Marine film, TMZ reports the star will not be involved in the movie. Orton, a former Marine, was dishonorably discharged from the service due to his going AWOL in 1999 on two separate occasions and for disobeying commands by a superior officer. Orton was court martialed and served 38 days in a military prison.

A representative for the WWE gave a statement to TMZ.com regarding Orton’s release from the film, “WWE demonstrated poor judgment in signing Randy Orton for the 3rd installment of the film. Despite Randy’s popularity, the fact that he was dishonorably discharged from the USMC made it inappropriate for him to be cast in this film.”

There is no word as to who will replace Orton in the upcoming movie, Marine: Homefront.
