Four Stars To Exit NBC's 'Smash'

0

The mass exodus from Smash continues with four actors joining creator Theresa Rebeck on the list of people not returning for season two. While viewers can expect to see Smash return midseason it will be without Dev, Ellis, Frank, and Michael Swift.

Dev (Raza Jaffrey), Karen’s cheating ex-fiancée failed to connect with audiences leaving even fewer people rooting for him after his drunken affair with Karen’s rival Ivy.

Ellis (Jaime Cepero), Tom and then Eileen’s scheming assistant turned producer was apparently too much of a villain. After poisoning star Rebecca Duvall and stepping on every back he could find trying to find a way to the top, it seems that no one wanted him around even Eileen who fired him in the finale.

Meanwhile both of Julia’s (love interests, husband Frank (Brian d’Arcy James) and steamy fling Michael Swift (Will Chase) with be missing from season two. While it looked like Julia and Frank might be heading to reconciliation in the finale it seems maybe the conversation Frank witnessed between Julia and Michael might have made a bigger impression on him than he led on.

While both Raza Jaffrey and Jaime Cepero may return for an episode or two to finish out their story there is no word yet of any appearances cameo or otherwise from Brian d’Arcy James or Will Chase.

With just about every straight male character leaving the scene before season 2 even starts we can only hope that it is raining men before fall otherwise it looks like Derek (Jack Davenport) will be responsible for making even more ladies swoon.
