Step Up star Jenna Dewan has landed one of the lead roles in Lifetime’s pilot, Witches of East End.

TV Line was the first to report the news that the actress will be playing the role of Freya Beauchamp in the pilot based on the popular novel by Melissa de la Cruz that focuses on a mother and her two adult daughters, who are living normal lives in Long Island’s North Hampton until their mother tells them that they are actually witches.

According to TV Line, Dewan’s character will be just like her literary counterpart, described as, “a sexy and fearless former wild child, who settles down after becoming engaged to Dash Gardiner, a rich philanthropist.” Dewan joins Julia Ormond, who was cast as Freya’s mother, Joanna. She is forced to tell her daughters the truth about their heritage after a series of strange events in the town.

Witches of East End is being written by Maggie Friedman (Dawson’s Creek), who also serves as executive producer for Fox 21 along with Erwin Stoff for 3 Arts Entertainment.
