Hunter Haley KingHollywood Heights star Hunter Haley King has reportedly taken over the role of Summer Newman on The Young and the Restless.

Though the show has not confirmed King’s hiring, Y&R star Max Ehrich (Fen) tweeted Thursday night about working with the actress. “Hey @HunterHaleyKing!” he tweeted. “Great working with you yesterday. Looking forward to a long journey! :)” He has since deleted the tweet.

The actress’ name was tossed about soon after Lindsay Bushman (let go earlier this week), tweeted that a Hollywood Heights star would be replacing her. “Ahhh! #YR is being invaded by #HollywoodHeights and has replaced yet another actress on YR. Guess who?! Me. Haha well onward and upward.”

King played high school queen of mean Adrianna Masters on the Nick-at-Nite’s summer soap opera. She is the second cast member from Heights to be hired as a recast. Robert Adamson (Phil, HH) replaced Kevin Schmidt as Noah Newman earlier this month. He reported to work September 4 and will first air October 1.

Her previous credits include A.I. Artificial Intelligence directed by Steven Spielberg, a recurring role in Showtime’s Dexter and guest starring roles on such shows as Workaholics, Hannah Montana, ER and Without a Trace.

No first airdate has been announced.

Update: CBS Soaps In Depth announced on its Facebook page that The Young and the Restless has confirmed King’s hiring. She will first air on October 15.

My POV: I loved King on Hollywood Heights. She’ll be a great fit as Nick and Phyllis’ daughter. Truth be told, aging Summer was completely unnecessary and ruined the timeline of Nick and Phyllis being together, but King is just the person to take Summer in a new direction.
