Who says you can’t go home? TV Guide’s William Keck reports Knots Landing stars Ted Shackelford and Joan Van Ark will make their way back to Southfork as Gary and Valene Ewing on TNT’s Dallas.
Shackelford’s Gary and Van Ark’s Valene were popular characters (and together a super couple) on original Dallas, and were the focus of the primetime soap’s spinoff Knots Landing, which premiered December 1979.
The stars were in talks to return for a cameo appearance last season, but Shackelford declined, waiting for a better story opportunity. They will return for at least three episodes in season two.
Ted Shackelford currently stars as schemer Jeffrey Bardwell on CBS’ The Young and the Restless. Van Ark also starred on Y&R, originating the role of Gloria Fisher in March 2004, only to depart nine months later. The role was recast with Judith Chapman, who is paired opposite Shackleford.
Season 2 of Dallas begins Monday, January 28, 2013 at 9PM/EST.
