Victoria Principal Returning to ‘Dallas’?

Could longtime favorite Victoria Principal be making a return to Dallas? A recent interview with star Jesse Metcalfe (Christopher) indicates it might be a possibility.

When Principal left the role of Pamela Barnes Ewing in 1987, producers at the time decided to leave the door wide open for the actress to return to the series at a later date, without having to do a convoluted story similar to the “dream” season in order to bring her back. Unfortunately this left a bad taste in a lot of fan’s mouth’s as Pam abandoning her family never really rang true. Now 26 years later, might Principal return to the show that made her a household name?

Dallas‘ Jesse Metcalfe sat down with TVGuide and discussed some of the upcoming stories and brought up the actress while previewing what’s to come. “As we peel back the layers of the onion, a lot of things come to light. J.R. was attempting to set something in motion, and that involved Pam. I can’t reveal more, but I’m excited about the possibility of Victoria Principal coming back to the show.”

My Take: Personally I would be over the moon if Pam came back. In all honesty I would even be okay if it was just a short guest stint in order to wrap everything up and pay tribute to the shows long-term fans. But her absence has left some pretty big plot holes, and I’d love to have those wrapped up and be able to move into season 3 guns blazing and make Dallas must-see TV again.

Would you want the real Pamela Barnes Ewing back? Or are you happy having Bobby and Christopher move on without her? Let us know your take in the comments below.

  1. Amen

  2. she’ll be perfect

  3. i think the show would be better with the return of pam. since she was burned it would be easy to replace victoria but i would prefer she was the one portraying pam. how could she survive her terminal illness and why would she not try to contact her son. these are a few things i would like to know.

  4. I guess we find out next week. I so hope Victoria consented to do at least the finale. Seeing someone else in the role would be like seeing the season Donna Reed took over as Miss Ellie. It just doesn’t seem right.

  5. It would be very nice but I think Victoria Principal forgot who and what made her. Had it not been for Dallas she would not be a successful business woman. I think none of us should ever forget our roots and where we came from. The others apparently have not. I hear she is to busy dreaming about space..

  6. Absolutely bring her back!!! She’s a huge part of the “Dallas” institution & it’s not the same without her. Besides, we need to know her real reason for leaving Christopher & Bobby.

  7. BRING HER BACK NOW! SHE IS THE ONLY ^PAMELA^ I WANT TO SEE!

  8. I would Love to see Victoria Principal back on Dallas !!!!!!!
Been watching Dallas from the beginning. That would be AMAZING

  9. By all means bring Victoria Principal back as Pam. The plot line seems to indicate it’s a possibility. I only wish she could have returned before Larry Hagman passed.

  10. Bobby is showing resentment that Ann never shared her past with him. He is starting to see Ann in a different light. Pam’s return (with a good actress replacement) would push this show to unbelievable heights! It would be so, so interesting and, as you said, the possibilities are endless!

  11. You are so right. That’s when I quit watching. To assure us 50
somethings stay interested, the character has to come back. Having been a
big fan of the original for a long time, I can say I never believed she
would have done what she did. It’s a loose end hanging that detracts
from the show. Bring in a good actress to pick up the role.

  13. Want the character back. Doesn’t have to be Victoria! But we have to have her. She is a pivotal role and need to be recast since Victoria is uninterested in what the fans want or just doesn’t care to act again. Whatever ….. recast the role. We need Pamela, not necessarily Victoria.

  14. No i don’t think she is a very good actress, she is too stuck on herself.

  15. I think Jaclyn Smith would be an excellent PAM !!! If Principal does not return !!!

  16. The ORIGINAL SERIES never recovered after Pam’s exit. I would watch the series only if she returns !!!!

  17. Bring her BACK NOW

  18. OMG having Pam return would be amazing. I can see all the possible scenarios that could result from her return to Dallas. The possibilities are endless pulling in Cliff, Bobby, Christopher, etc. That could wreak havoc on Southfork, which is going to need something more now with Larry Hagman’s passing. While I would love Victoria Principal in the part, I also think a CAREFULLY thought out recast would work but I’m not sure if that chemistry between Bobby and Pam would be the same. Very interesting!
