CW debuts series trailer for ‘The Originals’; includes unaired footage

Family is power. That’s the tagline for The CW’s new series The Originals, which will debut this fall and feature the Mikaelson family; the Original family of vampires, who fans of The Vampire Diaries are already quite familiar with.

Back in April, The CW premiered the first episode of The Originals as a backdoor pilot episode of The Vampire Diaries. Since it was technically a TVD episode, not all the scenes that were shot made it into the aired version. Now the network has released a full series preview trailer that includes some of the deleted footage.

Starting with a voiceover explanation from Klaus (Joseph Morgan), the video introduces viewers to the remaining members of the Original family: Klaus, Elijah (Daniel Gillies) and Rebekah (Claire Holt). Another familiar face from TVD, the werewolf Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin) has also made her way to New Orleans.

We got to meet Klaus’ former protégé Marcel (Charles Michael Davis) and Sophie (Daniella Pineda), the witch who wants to take him down in the episode that aired, but we did not get to see Davina (Danielle Campbell), a young, powerful witch, who happens to be Marcel’s secret weapon. The new preview includes her deleted scenes as well as a few other new moments.

The Originals airs Tuesdays this fall on The CW.
