‘Castle’ Season 6 Premiere Preview: What’s next for Castle and Beckett?

7

The start of Fall TV is fast approaching and ABC was kind enough to kick off the holiday weekend by sending out a screener of Castle’s sixth season premiere. As fans will recall, we were left with quite a cliffhanger last spring when Castle (Nathan Fillion) pulled out a ring and proposed to Beckett (Stana Katic).

Naturally, the screen went black before the detective had a chance to answer the question, but that wasn’t the only potential huge change in Kate’s life. She’d been offered an opportunity to move to Washington, D.C. and take a job with the FBI, which she seemed to be strongly leaning toward taking before Castle popped the question. Would that change her mind? Does Castle want it to change her mind?

Valkyrie” picks up right where the season finale left off in that moment by the swings and viewers will get the answer to the proposal as well as whether or not Beckett is boarding a plane to D.C. Of course, we’re not going to give either answer away because 1) ABC told us not to and 2) where is the fun in that?

So what can we tell you about the season premiere? It’s a fast-moving episode and it’s packed with all the stuff that makes the show fun. There’s banter, cuteness, some bromance, mother-son moments, father-daughter moments and a pretty large case that is not going to be wrapped by the time the credits roll on the premiere. That’s right: the dreaded ‘to be continued’ flash across the screen.

But before we get to those ugly words, we learn Castle has been on a book tour and he arrives home just in time to see that Alexis (Molly Quinn) is also back from her summer in Costa Rica and she’s brought a new boyfriend home. His name is Pi and he does things a bit differently.

As for Castle and Beckett, while we can’t give too many details, the two shared more than one meaningful conversation that proved just how well these two know each other and just how deeply they understand the other’s way of thinking and motivations. Oh and for the fanfic readers and writers out there, prepare to add a lot of red wine drinking to your stories…

By the way, the cliffhanger at the end of the premiere? A major character’s life hangs in the balance.

Castle premieres its sixth season Monday, Sept. 23 at 10/9c on ABC.

  1. Thank you, I am more confident about 6×01 now. I thought it was really annoying and even though we naturally don’t get all these two do on screen otherwise it would be a soap ( LOL ) there were parts that I was missing and I am glad it seemed to have changed. Good thing Andrew reads Tumblr & Co. He surely must have noticed the uproar after the last three episodes of season 5 :)

  2. No more Ryan running in and saying “You’ve got to see this” in the middle of an important conversation.

  3. I agree with you; that was one of the problems I had with Season 5. Beckett and Castle swept everything under the rug and it didn’t really make sense to me. I’m not allowed to say too much, but I can say that for the first time in a long time, I believed these two were a couple that had a chance of lasting forever.

  4. As long as they don’t gloss over the problems and really talk, I am fine. Their lying and lack of communication started to majorly annoy me.

  5. I just hope it is actual talk and no glossover. We’ve had enough of that. It is getting ridiculous …

  6. I think most fans will love it, but I know better than to speak for everyone. ;)

  7. Mandy,
Just want to know if we will like it or love it?
