Daytime Emmy winner and ‘Lost’ alum Cynthia Watros is heading to CBS’ The Young and the Restless this fall reports Entertainment Weekly.

The actress will play Kate, a character who will have a profound influence on Billy, Victoria and Chloe, among several others. EW reports Watros reported to work today. Watros will reunite with executive producer Jill Farren Phelps, who hired her on CBS’ Guiding Light in 1994.

For four years, Watros toiled on Guiding Light as the psychotic Annie Dutton. The hell raiser would make the lives of Reva (Kim Zimmer) and Josh (Robert Newman) a living hell. Her fearless portrayal of the unhinged Annie earned her a Daytime Emmy in 1998, winning for Outstanding Leading Actress. After departing Guiding Light in 1998, she briefly assumed the role of Victoria McKinnon on Another World while Jensen Buchanan was on maternity leave.

The actress soon set her sights on primetime, becoming a series regular roles on Titus and The Drew Carey Show. She landed her most high-profile role in 2005 when she joined the cast of ABC’s Lost. From 2005-2006, Watros played psychologist Libby Smith on the hit series.

Cynthia Watros’ additional credits include Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Criminal Minds, Men of a Certain Age, In Plain Sight, Gossip Girl, The Secret Life of the American Teenager, House M.D., Grey’s Anatomy and Hawaii Five-O.

  2. I am sorry, but Cynthia Watros did not replace Jensen Buchanan cause of a maternity leave. It was rumored to be a knee injury but later was a contract related incident. Cause if you look at Jensen before she left she was NOT pregnant at all.

  3. Woderful to see ‘annie’ again. Y&r look out. Shes too great an actress. She caused havoc for josh/reva. Welcome cynthia look forward to your great acting. Also I think. Mrs. Phelps/judy wilson should cast jamie lunar in role of phyllis romalotti newman and pay me for giving them a brilliant choice for recasting. Lol but true. She’s fantastic but may be busy with movies. She has the talent the look the ability to deliver a phyllis role. Think about it, mrs. Phelps. A fan from college days long over thirty years. Keep the good stuff coming esp. Those good looking guys added lately and neal and nick.
