We’ve still got a few weeks to go before NBC debuts its new drama Dracula, but the network has an offering to tide viewers over in the meantime.

Fans can watch an animated prequel to the show called Dracula Rising, which will be released in a series of short videos on You Tube. The videos take place during the 15th Century and give viewers a glimpse of Dracula’s early life, when he was known as Vlad Tepes.

In the first video, we get to see Vlad doing his thing, which was basically slaughtering a lot of people and then spending some time with Fiona, his great love, who will (spoiler alert) eventually be burned alive.

Check out the video below and then hit the comments and let us know if the prequel has upped your excitement for the series.

Dracula premieres Friday, Oct. 25 at 10/9c on NBC.
