Four coaches and forty-eight hopeful artists helped close out five nights of fantastic blind auditions for the Emmy winning reality competition, The Voice.  Now that the blinds have come to a close, Tuesday night’s show was a two-hour recap of those performances that will have the coaches competing heavily come next week’s battle rounds.
In the recaps, I’ll be truthful when I say, I still grinned like a fool when I saw Nic Hawk took the stage.  I still didn’t like the song choice he had with Blu Cantrell’s “Hit Em Up Style (Oops)”, but I loved his outright banter he had immediately with Adam Levine.  It was as if he put Adam on the spot and pretty much turned the tables, choosing his coach before Adam could even muster a word to him.  Who would have thought Adam would get ruffled and caught off guard on the very first night of the blind auditions?

In seeing Adam’s team of twelve, I can say that it’s going to be a very bumpy ride for Adam come the Battle Rounds next week.  Adam, who will be joined with advisor Ryan Tedder from One Republic, is pairing some of his strongest contestants up against each other.  I was floored to see that Adam paired Preston Pohl up with Barry Black, as well as his airing Will Champlin up against James Wolpert.  I definitely see steals going on with whoever doesn’t make the cut out of these two pairings alone.

As I stated in my previous review, I am not a full die-hard country fan, but three out of the twelve artists that Blake has are definitely going to hold my attention come the battle rounds.  Shelbie Z is a little spitfire with a lot of sass and her take on Gretchen Wilson’s “I’m Here for the Party”.  Another artist, Brian Pound, who sang “Wagon Wheel” by Darius Rucker, could possibly have staying power, but then again, anything can happen when it comes time for the pairings for the battle.  The icing on the cake for Blake’s battles is having Cher as his advisor.  Love her or hate her, Blake knew what he was doing when he chose her to help give pointers for his team.

For Cee Lo Green, he has a very unique group of artists and I really deem him the wild card, because anything can happen on this show.  He has three great artists that really stood out to me; Tamara Chaumiece, R. Anthony, and Johnny Gray.  I think Cee-Lo could position himself with some pretty good singers, especially if he snags a few with the “Steal” come battle-time.  During those rehearsals, he will be advised by young artist, Miguel.

Christina is the lone girl of a group of guy coaches, and she has made it clear that she wants to be the first female to get a win.  After looking at all of her hopeful artists, she has a very strong group this time out.  Out of the eight female singers she has, she does have very strong male performers.  Who to look out for on the show is Matthew Schuler, who did a fantastic performance to the song “Cough Syrup” by Young the Giant and Timyra-Joi Beatty, who sang Alicia Keys “Girl on Fire” Although the song was too similar to Keys herself, Timyra-Joi, from the previews of the battle round, will be power-housing “Listen” by Beyonce. The only thing I hope for Christina’s sake is that she doesn’t eliminate her strongest contestant right off the bat in the upcoming battles.

The next week battle rounds will be full of surprises and tons of steals.  In looking at the previews, it looks to be an intense night that will produce many a steal.   The two night battle rounds will begin Monday and Tuesday at 8/7.
