The Vampire Diaries will kick off November sweeps tonight with a costume party, which seems more than fitting, considering some of the disasters that have occurred at parties in the past. We have a feeling this one will follow the tradition and maybe we’ll learn more about the new creepy professor and why he’s making vampires in his lab.

What else is in store over the next few weeks? Lots of doppelganger drama as Tessa and Silas continue to battle for control and that’s just the beginning. Check out the following official previews released by The CW.

“Monster’s Ball” airing Oct. 31

COSTUME PARTY OF THE DAMNED — Elena and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) attend the Whitmore Historical Ball dressed as Anne Boleyn and Henry VIII. At the Ball, Elena shares a dance with Dr. Maxfield (guest star Rick Cosnett), who has a disturbing message for her. Caroline’s (Candice Accola) evening at the Ball takes her from happiness to heartbreak.

“Handle With Care” airing Nov. 7

INDESTRUCTIBLE — Tessa (guest star Janina Gavankar) confidently tells Stefan (Paul Wesley) about her next move, then realizes that Silas (Paul Wesley) has managed to outsmart her. A desperate Katherine (Nina Dobrev) discovers a new and unexpected consequence of becoming human again, and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) is stunned when he figures out the secret to Tessa’s plan.

“Death and the Maiden” airing Nov. 14

THE POWER OF DOPPELGANGERS — While Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) try to explain Amara’s (Nina Dobrev) situation to Stefan (Paul Wesley), Dr. Wes (guest star Rick Cosnett) gives Katherine (Nina Dobrev) some deeply disturbing news.  Silas (Paul Wesley) fails to keep a promise, causing Damon to turn to Tessa (guest star Janina Gavankar) for help with his new plan, and Stefan makes a heartbreaking confession to Damon and Elena.

“Dead Man on Campus” airing Nov. 21

THE PARTY’S OVER — At Whitmore College, Elena (Nina Dobrev) and Caroline (Candice Accola) decide it’s time to throw a big party, but their plans are interrupted when Jesse (guest star Kendrick Sampson) suddenly needs Caroline’s help.  Finally, Damon makes a terrifying discovery about a secret society.

The Vampire Diaries airs Thursday at 8/7c on The CW.
