‘The Originals’ Joseph Morgan set to crossover to ‘The Vampire Diaries’

Hot on the heels of The Vampire Diaries’ Michael Trevino making his first crossover appearance on The Originals, it was announced today that a familiar face would be making his way back to Mystic Falls. The Original big bad hybrid Klaus (Joseph Morgan) is heading to his old stomping grounds.

That’s right – the star of the successful spinoff series – will be the first cast member to return to TVD. We have to admit we were surprised when TV Guide exclusively broke the news. The powers-that-be have been pretty tight-lipped about future crossovers between the two series and Klaus has been quite busy in New Orleans with his family, witches, wars and that magical miracle baby.

So what brings him back and when? That is a mystery. The CW and WBTV declined to comment to TV Guide so we’re left to speculate. Could his return have something to do with Tyler? Maybe Klaus wants more payback after their latest showdown. But we doubt Tyler is enough to warrant our favorite hybrid making the journey.

It’s probably a safer bet that his return has something to do with Caroline or his bestie/frenemy Stefan. Again, it seems doubtful that Klaus would pop into town just to play catch up so whatever brings him back must be pretty important.

What do you guys think? Are you excited that Klaus is coming back or do you prefer the shows keep to themselves? Hit the comments and let us know!

The Vampire Diaries airs Thursdays at 8/7c and The Originals airs Tuesdays at 8/7c on The CW.

  1. You obviously stand alone. The “ship” between Klaus and Caroline is one of the highest shipped relationships that TV has ever had. Its not a waste of time. Its creative and romantic. If you don’t like it, then don’t watch. Don’t spoil it for everyone else. Its not madness, it’s creative. These two actors share a great chemistry and “that’s” what the people, the viewers crave. Move on !!

  2. I really think it might be for the 100th episode. I’m not going to judge before we see what unfolds onscreen, but I do agree with you about this week’s TO. It felt way too much like TVD and I didn’t like it.

  3. But if you haven’t watched TO, how can you say he’s out of character?

  4. I haven’t tuned in to one episode of TVD or TO this season…tell me when this episode is–the Klaus episode–and I am there. Hopefully the OOCness of his character on TO won’t be present if Caroline Dries is writing his character.

  5. I see no good reason for him to return there. Leave the shows separate. Caroline doesn’t want him, and he’s worried more about getting with a whiny teenager while everyone is trying to kill his baby? Really Klaus, really. I can’t with this show. I hope he’s going back just to end once and for all because all this shipper appeasing is dragging the show down. Last Tuesday’s episode was one of the worst because it reminded me of TVD. Let this madness end. Leave the shows separate. Klaus needs to accept the fact that Caroline doesn’t want him and move on. He looks so pathetic chasing after her.
