Even though we don’t want to think about the hiatus that will follow, we’re dying to see The Originals midseason finale. So much has happened on the series over the past eight episodes (nine if we’re counting the backdoor pilot) that we can’t even imagine what the writers have in store for us in the next episode.

Here’s what we do know about “Reigning Pain in New Orleans” (besides the fact that we’re in love with the title): several cast members traveled back to New Orleans where they shot the backdoor pilot to film scenes for the episode. Check out the video below of the cast talking about why they think the city itself is important.

Next, we’ve got the official trailer for the episode. When we last left off, Klaus had ordered Hayley to accompany him to their new home that he just reacquired from Marcel. But it’s not all peace and merriment – quite the opposite. Klaus sends the vampires on a killing spree and the target is the werewolves, Hayley’s only remaining family. Needless to say, she’s not happy with this development. Can Elijah and Rebekah save the wolves?

Finally, we’ve have a scene from the episode. Cami is once again angrily typing Klaus’ memoirs as he spouts off about his family betraying him. She’s not amused and Marcel is a little confused when he arrives and sees her there. Cami tells him what Klaus has been up to and Marcel realizes that Klaus compelled her to date him. But that’s only the beginning of the awkwardness.

The Originals airs its midseason finale on Tuesday, Dec. 3 at 8/7c on The CW.
