Monday night’s episode of The Voice was another must-see event, showcasing two hours of amazing performances. The night belonged to Adam Levine and Blake Shelton’s teams, with all three of their artists still in the running; whereas Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green have just two. Here is the rundown of what happened when the Top 10 performed on The Voice.

The show started out with a performance from the entire Top 10 performing the song, “Say It, Just Say It” by the Mowgli’s. I don’t know what it is but when watching them perform, I focused on Kat Robichaud. There are times when she goes a tad overboard when she’s performing and I noticed someone in that performance as a group.

Austin Jenckes, from Team Blake, kicked off the night with the song, “Your Love” by the Outfield. Blake chose the song to bring Austin out of his element and it was a good call. It was great seeing Austin perform this song because he perfected the slow build of the song and just explode with the climatic ending. If Blake continues to pick songs for Austin that continue to push him, he could very well be one of the top five as this competition continues on.

The youngest singer in the competition, Jacquie Lee from Team Christina. Continues to show that she’s not going anywhere. Last week she brought the house down with “Love is Blindness”, and she did it again when she sang Zedd’s song “Clarity”. Jacquie has already proven that she’s a powerhouse singer, at the young age of sixteen, but she also showed the audience and the entire team of coaches that she can perfect being able to show her vulnerability when she sings. She did a great job with her falsettos and she made the song so beautiful. The rest of the contestants want to keep their eye on Jacquie because she’s showing that she can take whatever song given and make it her own.

From Team Adam, Will Champlin continues to grow in his vocal range and he killed it with the song “Love Me Again, by John Newman. He, just as Austin did with his performance, took the song from a slow build that gradually went into a powerful performance that brought the audience on their feet. Each week, Will continues to prove that he belongs there; in fact, many of these performers are making it hard to choose who should stay, because they each continue to step up their game. Also, on a side note, it was nice seeing Will dressed in that red suit jacket. He was looking mighty sharp.

Caroline Pennell has such grace and breathiness whenever she sings on stage. Caroline presented the song “Leaving on a Jet Plane” by John Denver, to Cee Lo, and he loved that she picked it. It’s a soothing a song but Cee Lo wanted her to really show the audience that she could connect with the song and bring some zest to it. Caroline is known for singing easy listening tunes, that, right now, it would be a surprise if she were pulled out of her element. I personally would love to see her change it up some going into the next round of performances, but I can see Cee Lo’s need to keep her in her comfort zone a little bit.

I was surprised a little that Cole Vosbury, from Team Blake, took on Mr. Big’s “To Be with You”. It’s one of the biggest hits of the ninety’s, and I was surprised that Cole took on the challenge to sing this song. It was nice hearing the song and despite a little hiccup in the song, he still gave it his best. I do agree

with Blake that the song was the best played on guitar to give the acoustic flare. I do hope to see some more of Cole, because I think he has a lot more to share vocal wise with the audience and his fan base.

There’s no surprise that Tessanne Chin is the one that can continue to send shivers down my spine when she sings. Adam gave her Gladys Knight and the Pips soulful ballad, “If I Were Your Woman” and it was the best song choice for her. Tonight has been a lot about the slow build to the big bravado finale in many of the songs, but for Tessanne, she mastered it from the start to the very end. I love how she started out very soothing at the start because it was so beautiful. She’s one of my favorites so I do hope that we have her a part of the Top 8.

Ray Boudreaux took on another Ray song; Ray LaMontange’s “You Are the Best Thing”. I liked Ray’s performance and it was a good song selection. He just has a natural easiness to himself when he takes the stage. I agree that he is the most consistent of the singers in the competition. I hope that Blake continues to push Ray rather than keep him in his comfort zone for too long.

I liked James Wolpert from day one and I continue to enjoy watching him on The Voice stage. He sang the power ballad “Without You” by Harry Nilsson and I am sure I wasn’t the only one that melted when he took to the stage to sing it. The song is a classic beauty and once again, it was that song that has a slow build into a grand finale of power. I think what I like best are the facial expressions that his coach, Adam makes when James reaches the closing of any song he sings.

I didn’t know what to think really of Kat Robichaud’s take on a Pat Benatar classic, “We Belong” when I heard that it was the song that Cee Lo chose for her. I was pleasantly surprised that she didn’t do the exact carbon copy of Pat’s version. The only thing about the performance that I didn’t like or felt the need for was the background dancers. Kat has such command on stage and she draws the audience in naturally that she really didn’t need them for this song. I’m glad that she erased whatever doubts I had in my mind when she sang this classic song.

The closer of the night was Matt Schuler from Team Christina. He was given the song “Beneath Your Beautiful” by Labrinth. Matt is always on point when he sings and it was great that Christina gave him a romantic ballad to perform. It gave him the capability to show that he can connect with the lyrics, as well as connect and hold the audience. I just love how graceful he sings. I do hope Matt stays a part of the next round of competition because so far he has nailed every single performance.

Tuesday night will be the elimination show, where once again, the audience can take to Twitter to save someone from being eliminated from the bottom three. Make sure to tune in and have those computers or phones ready to vote.
