‘Arrow’ Photo Preview: Oliver Hosts a Party for the Enemy

The CW had a New Year’s treat for Arrow fans on Thursday when the network released the first episode stills of the upcoming winter premiere, “Blast Radius.”

As fans can see from the photo above, Oliver is toasting Starling City’s potential new mayor Sebastian Blood. Unfortunately, he has no idea that Sebastian is the man in the mask that he’s been searching for in the five weeks since the events of the midseason finale.

Of course that’s only one of the many storylines that the episode will be weaving together. We had a chance to watch an advanced screener over the break so we have a slight unfair advantage and know exactly what’s happening in each of these pictures. While we can’t spoil everything, we can give a few hints as to what fans can expect.

Since the fundraiser is being held at the club, Oliver takes a moment to check in with his little sister. He has some questions about Roy since he’s been worried about him after the incident that nearly killed him. But he’s not supposed to know about that so he tries to be coy when bringing up the subject. We enjoy Thea’s responses and look for a third person to join in on the hilarious conversation.

Fans don’t need us to tell them that Arrow shaking hands with Blood is not a good thing. Oliver is truly in the dark about who Sebastian really is and puts too much trust in him. But while this conversation is a big moment in the episode, there’s an even bigger development that follows.

Speaking of big moments, this picture is quite deceiving because it looks like it’s just a random shot of Arrow on his motorcycle. But it’s actually the catalyst that leads to an intense conversation in the Arrow Cave. This might be a good moment for a certain fan base to make sure that they’ve got their wine glasses on standby.
