‘Once Upon a Time’ Season 3 Finale Preview: Can Emma and Hook Escape the Past?

It’s hard to believe that we’re five days away from the third season finale of Once Upon a Time. Our favorite characters began the season on a journey to Neverland, they were transported back to the Enchanted Forest, memories and Storybrooke itself were erased and then returned. We got our first glimpses of Oz when Zelena came to destroy Regina’s life and last week, good triumphed over wicked as we head into the final two episodes.

Or at least that’s what our heroes believe has happened as they gather to celebrate the birth of Snow and Charming’s baby in “Snow Drifts” and “There’s No Place Like Home.” The proud parents plan to announce the name of their new son to their friends and family at Granny’s. In the episodes stills that ABC released earlier today, we can see that Ruby is back and there will be other familiar faces popping up in the episode, but not all of them will be in the present.

When Rumple killed Zelena (assuming she’s dead), her essence reactivated the time travel portal and we know that Emma and Hook are going to be pulled into it and sent back to the Enchanted Forest. But the spell does not seem to go back as far as Zelena had planned and instead, Emma and Hook find themselves witnessing the events that led up to Snow and Charming’s first meeting. Naturally, the two have to be careful not to change anything in the past or they’ll risk erasing important parts of the future – like Emma’s very existence.

If all of that was not enough to put everyone on the edge of their seats going into the finale, the pictures should do the trick. Dressed in fairy tale costumes, Hook and Emma attend a ball in Midas’ kingdom, Regina is about to burn someone at the stake, and the Evil Queen is also holding one of her infamous apples. We can barely contain our excitement at all of the possibilities these episodes have to offer.

Check out the photo galleries below. ABC was kind enough to label the pictures with “Snow Drifts” or “No Place Like Home” so we split them in two. Now we want to hear your thoughts and theories. What do you think will happen in the two episodes? Will Hook and Emma accidentally change anything? Who will be burned at the stake? We’re guessing it’s not Snow White, but Ginny Goodwin confirmed that someone does succumb to that fate. Share all your thoughts and feelings below!

  1. I cannot put into words how excited I am and how happy these promo pictures made me. I’ve been fascinated by Hook and Emmy’s connection ever since Tallahassee. And I’ve believed in them being true love for just as long.
I cannot wait for Emma to finally choose her real home. Including Killian Jones.
