Amellsdays are back on The CW! Tomorrow People star Robbie Amell is reuniting with executive producer Greg Berlanti for a major recurring role on The CW’s The Flash.

The casting keeps Amell on The CW following the cancellation of his short-lived but excellent super-hero drama, The Tomorrow People. Amell will play the role of Ronnie Raymond, also known as one-half of Firestorm in the DC Comics universe. He first appears in the third episode as Caitlin Snow’s (Danielle Panabaker) fiancé. Ronnie, a maintenance worker at S.T.A.R. Labs, plays an integral part in the accident that led to Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) becoming The Flash.

“[Producers] Geoff Johns, Andrew Kreisberg and I designed the pilot and series to include Ronnie (aka Firestorm) — and to actually have someone with Robbie’s talent playing the role is beyond exciting. We can’t wait for viewers and fans of the character to check it out,” said executive producer Greg Berlanti. “We can’t wait for viewers and fans of the character to check it out.”

“I’m so excited to join forces with Greg Berlanti and The CW again on The Flash,” said Robbie Amell in a statement. “Being brought into the DC Universe is a dream, I can’t wait to get started.”

In the comics, Ronnie Raymond is a stupid who gets caught in a nuclear accident with physicist Martin Stein, giving them the ability to fuse together into the hero Firestorm.

I can’t be the only one hoping that the inevitable crossover between Arrow and The Flash features a scene or two between the Amell cousins Robbie and Arrow star Stephen Amell!
