Another star from ABC’s One Life to Live will be relocating to Salem this fall. Melissa Archer (ex-Natalie) has joined the cast of NBC’s Days of our Lives in a new, yet-to-be-revealed role.

Rumors of the actress’ hiring began yesterday morning when Daytime Confidential published the blind item, “Which Ginger East Coast Soap Alum is Already Taping on a West Coast Sudser?“. Hours later, Soap Opera Digest published an exclusive announcing the casting of the former One Life to Live star.

Melissa Archer got her soap start in 2001 when she was cast as the troublemaking Natalie Balsom aka the “real” Jessica Buchanan. Storyline contrivance aside (no need to explain, it was retconned before the series ended), Natalie Buchanan would evolve from troublemaking vixen into one of the show’s most popular heroine’s over the next decade. At the end of OLTL’s run on ABC, she later signed on for Prospect Park’s ill-fated online OLTL reboot, reprising her role as Natalie. At the conclusion of the season, Archer joined the cast of web series Beacon Hill. Always keeping busy, Archer completed filming on two feature films West End and Coach of the Year.

In joining DAYS, Archer reunites with former OLTL co-star Kassie DePaiva, who was cast as Eve Donovan earlier this year. DePaiva tweeted a welcome to Melissa shortly after the news was published.

According to SOD’s report, it appears that Archer has been filming since June, as the stars praised her casting to the magazine during the Daytime Emmys. Days of our Lives hasn’t released information regarding her first airdate.

Who do you think Melissa Archer is playing – is she taking on a role previously played by someone else or a new role entirely?

  1. I think she will be one of Maggie’s daughters. I’m a Maggie fan and I remember hearing Maggie talking about a Serena being a daughter of hers.

  2. I used to watch OLTL all the time with my mom. I looking forward to see Melissa Archer coming to soaps (I love seeing former soap stars than new ones because I got used to them on other soaps). I 100% love seeing Kassie DePavia and etc and now Justin Hartley as Adam Newman on Y&R.
