Mother-son curveballs

When Heather Webber was revealed as Franco’s real mom, there were a lot of “ah-ha” moments among viewers. Franco’s frequent lapses of mental instability were passed down from his mother and this week we got to see the two of them work as a team, and a lot of you loved it! It’s still so hard to believe that Roger Howarth’s Franco has rocketed to such a fan favorite lately but when said character is working against Sonny Corinthos, a lot of people find it very easy to root for him. Heather and Franco both brought lots of laughs as well as gasps this week, both being major players in just about every storyline set to converge in the next few days.

gh-heather-jordan-102714Early in the week, Franco is still playing the doting fiancé to Carly Corinthos-Jacks. He constantly assures her that he has a surprise waiting for her at the wedding but Carly, still in the dark about his vengeful desires, thinks that Franco means the sudden change of venue from The Metro Court to The Haunted Star. Though that very night Carly kicks out Franco but only so he can have some semblance of a bachelor party before settling down. Not that anyone really believes they’ll be a long lasting couple. With no other place to go, Franco shows up at Scotty Baldwin’s hotel room to crash for the night. His father had been all set up to receive Bobbie Spencer but unfortunately their romantic night as canceled, as she chooses to spend the night with her daughter ahead of her wedding. The father and son spend a bit of time bonding over fruit and drinks which leads to Scotty bringing up his deceased son Logan in a nostalgic sort of way.  Scotty then leaves the room to order more food giving Franco time to call his inside guy at Ferncliff, checking on Heather’s status.

All this time Heather is held captive by Shawn Butler in a warehouse. Initially she still thinks that this is all a part of Franco’s plan, especially when more BLTs are funneled to her. While buttering her up, Shawn does his best to get information on Franco’s “doozy” of a plan but Heather remains mum. Shawn then leaves to go see Sonny, both of them wondering why Franco had a plan to spring his mother from Ferncliff and glad that they caught her before he did. Later that day, Shawn is at the coffee shop asking Sonny if he’d like for him to pull the trigger on Franco which Jordan Ashford catches. They argue as usual over their shady occupations and threaten to tell their respective dirty secrets to TJ. Shawn then leaves Jordan there only to show up at Franco’s room at the Metro Court with a loaded gun and silencer for him. Luckily he’d just missed Franco meeting with his contact at Ferncliff who relayed the story of getting knocked out and losing Heather, Kiki’s annoying visit to urge Franco into showing his good dise, and finally his editing of the video evidence of Sonny admitting to AJ’s murder, but unluckily for Franco, there seems to be no way out of this hit for him. (Anyone know where Scotty disappeared to?)

It’s not until Jordan shows up at Shawn’s warehouse to figure out what he’s hiding that things turn around for the former serial killer cum artist. Heather learns from Jordan that Shawn actually works for Sonny, not Franco, and proceeds to take Jordan as a hostage. Tied up in Saran wrap and without a weapon now, Jordan is helpless which Heather uses to taunt Shawn (with adorable gun selfies) until he begins to back down from the hit. Franco, now armed with information that Sonny planned to set Heather up for his murder, is able to finish getting ready for his wedding while Shawn runs off to save Jordan. Once reunited with the captive, Heather locks both Shawn and Jordan in the warehouse and strides off.

gh-carly-franco-102714Finally, at the Haunted Star, just a small group of grumbling loved ones has gathered for the wedding. Still there’s no Franco and people are beginning to worry. This gives Carly a chance to mingle with guests still unsure about these nuptials but it’s snotty Spencer Cassadine that drops the bomb that may shut the entire function down. He lets Carly know that Franco had spotted him when he was hiding out in her house in a fake kidnapping plot, topping the story off by telling her that he spotted her fiancé trying to break into her e-mail. Carly confronts Franco when he arrives late, going at him hard about what he needed in her e-mail only to realize it was Sonny’s confession he was after. The habitual liar tries to make a plea of not being able to trust Franco now but somehow he talks her down, admitting to everything and apologizing. The wedding goes on. Everything seems normal (even Josslyn Jacks cooperates with her flower girl duties) until Franco skips out on saying “I do” in favor of calling Carly a –   and let me get the exact quote – “lying, cheating whore!” Hell no, he won’t marry her! This week In Port Charles ends on a high note as everyone’s jaws hit a new low!
