SOAPBOX RADIO announced today that General Hospital femme fatale Kathleen Gati is checking into the new online production, Winterthorne. Gati will portray Valentina Winterthorne, the power hungry sister of Joanna Winterthorne, to be played by Dallas alum Linda Gray.

Joanna will stop at nothing to unearth the big family secret Miranda is hiding. The character is a strict follower of the old ways of the Winterthorne family which caused a major rift between her and her sister, Joanna. “Kathleen Gati is a powerhouse actress who brings a richness and depth to every role she tackles,” says series creator and Emmy-nominee, Michael Caruso, “She is so much more than a traditional ‘villain.’ She really embodies all the layers required for a role like this. She is really going to turn up the heat in this role. All of us are dying to work with her.”

Four time award-winning actress, Gati (Best Actress Award – Los Angeles Hungarian Film Festival) was born and raised in Canada by Hungarian immigrants and was brought up in an artistic environment. Her father was a symphony conductor and her mother an opera singer, so performing was in her blood. She started acting at the age of three, wrote, directed and starred in her first play at the age of eight. Studied ballet and acting till the age of eighteen, when she moved to New York to pursue her career. After performing in dozens of plays both on and off Broadway, as well as working in numerous roles on television and in film, Kathleen traveled to Hungary to film Goldberg Variations, for which she won the Hungarian Best Supporting Actress Award.

She subsequently stayed on in Hungary for several years, during which time she starred in multiple films, television series and movies of the week, winning additional awards along the way. Her performance in Hungary’s biggest hit of the ‘90s, We Never Die (Sose Halunk Meg), made her an extremely popular actress in Eastern and Central Europe. She returned to the states and has worked continuously in New York, Los Angeles and Canada.

Features include Sunshine, The Future, Transformers: Dark Of The Moon, American Dream, Trade, Igby Goes Down, ZigZag, The Future, Meet The FockersHouse Bunny, Little Birds and numerous others. On television, Kathleen Gati is best known for her recurring roles on General Hospital as Dr. Liesl Obrecht, the Chief Of Staff of General Hospital; two seasons on 24 as Anya Suvarov; Alphas, series regular on both the Drugstore (Hungary) and in the animation series Me Eloise with Tim Curry and Lynn Redgrave. She has also guested on Fairly Legal, Leverage, Covert Affairs, The Mentalist, Desperate Housewives, Cold Case, The League, Lie To Me, and many more.

Current roles include a recurring role on BET channel’s Being Mary Jane, a lead in feature A Play On Words, series regular in pilot Contingency, and the lead in film Lifeline. Winterthorne begins three weeks of production in late March, both in and outside of the Los Angeles area. Gati joins previously announced cast members Martha Madison (Days of Our Lives, The Bay), Michael Caruso (DeVanity), Linda Gray (Dallas), Gordon Thomson (Dynasty, Santa Barbara) and Josh Thrower (90210, The Young and the Restless).
