Y&R Reaction: Phyllis and Billy Kiss in the Chancellor Mansion! (Photos)

Nobody does scandalous quite like The Young and the Restless. Months of growing closer over to their mutual hatred of Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), Phyllis (Gina Tognoni) and Billy (Jason Thompson) had a drunken moment of weakness that ended with a kiss! We’ve got reactions and photos inside!

Billy takes Phyllis on a tour of his new digs, the newly remodeled (tragically I might add) Chancellor Mansion. The storm rolls in, knocking over a tree in the driveway, keeping Phyllis and Billy inside until it passes. Phyllis gets a fire started while Billy grabs a drink to keep them warm. The pair huddle under a blanket, drinking by the fire and toasting to their friendship. The conversation turns deep and introspective as they discuss Victor.

Billy: You know, I can’t help but think about those old days at Restless Style.

Phyllis: Oh, yeah, when you were always wrong? I know. I miss those, too.

Billy: No, what I remember is it was always better to be with you than against you.

Phyllis: Obviously. Well, the same goes for you. It’s better to be with you against Victor. And you get that. Better than anyone. What Victor did — what he did to both of us is just — It’s like we weren’t people. It’s like we didn’t matter. He didn’t have any guilt. He didn’t have any shame. He didn’t have any apologies, and I don’t want an apology. I don’t want an apology. It’s too late for that. I just — he did something to me, and I just — I think he took my humanity and I just want to take his.

Billy: See, if he ever was human it was a long time ago.

Phyllis holds back her tears. A drunken Billy opts to finally to get some more wood. He knocks over the wine and Phyllis leans on him to help. She falls onto him, they stare at each other and both lean in for a kiss. And what a kiss it was! They immediately realized what a HUGE mistake it was and agreed to never speak of it again. Yeah, that’s not how this works.

Phyllis and Billy’s was a moment that’s been building for weeks. Any soap fan could see this coming from a mile away, and there’s nothing wrong with that. I will always love Billy and Victoria (Amelia Heinle), but they’re stale. Victoria will always choose her father, Billy will always do something to break her trust and they’ll fall apart. It’s an endless cycle that quite frankly needs to be rested for a long while. When they’re great, they’re great, and when they’re bad, it’s repetitive. It’s obvious they still love each other, but Victoria believes she deserves better and at this point I agree with her.

Phyllis and Billy’s betrayal of Jack will not end well, and that’s what makes this so appealing. I live for messy soap drama. Their friendship evolved into an emotional affair a while ago. Billy gives Phyllis something she isn’t getting from Jack (Peter Bergman) – complete understanding, acceptance of her vendetta against Victor and embracing her flaws. In return, Phyllis gives Billy acceptance of his flaws, pushes him to take what he feels he deserves and own who he is. I want their affair to deepen and I know it’s bound to blow up in their faces.

The Abbott family will be furious with Phyllis for breaking Jack’s heart (again) and with Billy for hurting Jack in the worst way imaginable. If the creative team follows up with the logical steps post-reveal, it can drive months of storylines. Imagine Jack falling off the wagon; Phyllis and Billy embracing their pariah status and taking over Jabot, fully waging war against Victor and the Newmans. It’d be captivating television.

  1. What I have is HUGE problem with is the cheap remodel of the Chancellor estate. That set had been virtually unchanged since the early days of the show, a link to the past glory days and site of so many memorable moments. I guess it’s to be expected, as the show itself is unrecognizable now under Phelps and Pratt.

  2. Like my mom says “Phyllis belongs with Jack” not Billy.

  3. Jason Thompson is the worst, just the worst. I didn’t mind him on GH so much, mainly because he was paired up with Robin. But bringing him to Y&R has showed up his lack of talent in a big way. He’s NO DIFFERENT on this show than he was on GH, and in no way is he Billy Abbott. He’s like a demented Keebler Elf with a bad case of mono. Tired, lackluster, mumbling, humorless, no emotion – Gina Tognoni is doing her best with this crap storyline but she’s doing all the heavy lifting. If acting is too much work for him maybe he should just get a paper route and get off our screens. Enough of JFP bringing her pets from GH to Y&R.
He is NOT Billy Abbott and he’s not even trying. As for the kiss, it lacked any sex appeal at all, looked like Phyllis had fallen and couldn’t get up. And what they did to Katherine’s home…….
Every time you think JFP and Pratt can’t get worse, they do….

  4. It’s about time Billy escaped Villy prison, maybe AH will finally be fired now that she doesn’t have a talented actor to prop her up..

  5. Wow I didnt think they would go there. Are you off team Villy Ryan? :(

  6. Get that diq, sis!
