The Man of Steel will finally be seen on Supergirl, as casting is underway for the CBS-turned-CW series searches for an actor to play the role of Clark Kent/Superman in Season 2.

Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said in a statement, “Greg [Berlanti], Ali [Adler] and I are beyond thrilled to welcome Clark Kent and his slightly-more-famous alter ego to the world of Supergirl. Superman will be appearing in the first two episodes of the new season and we cannot wait to see who next dons the red cape!”

Though Superman’s presence existed in Season 1, he was never shown fully nor did he speak. Most scenes framed his body from afar, at a low angle with his back towards the camera, or out of shot with Kara/Supergirl reacting.

How awesome would it be if the network cast Smallville star Tom Welling, who played Clark Kent in the WB/CW series following Clark’s journey to adulthood, as Superman? We’ll answer that — it would be awesome! The DC television universe, specifically the universe created by Greg Berlanti for The CW, is completely separate from the movie universe. Can you imagine if The CW did its own adapted version of The Justice League comprised of characters from Arrow, The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl?

How do you think Supergirl should cast?
