Gays of our Lives: Jack (Finally) Gets His Man on ‘Shortland Street’

4

THIS WEEK IN SPOILERS

Anybody get a Robert and Aaron from Emmerdale feel here?

Coronation Street:   Todd gets the chance to put his legal skills to good use when he and lawyer Adam decide to open a legal firm together.  But the scheming begins quickly when Adam confides in Todd that he wants revenge in his grandfather Ken, who left a smaller portion of his estate to Adam than Adam feels he deserves.  Sounds like trouble….

Days of Our Lives:  In Prague, Paul and Marlena come up with a plan to draw out Stefano, but in order for the plan to work, they’re going to need someone’s help, forcing Paul to call in Sonny.

Time to cut those apron strings, Ben!

EastEnders:   Ben decides to move out and get an apartment with Jay, but after Ben learns that Phil has said he likes having Ben around, Ben changes his mind.  Jay is hurt and upset.  When Phil learns what has happened, he and Ben sit down and have a heart to heart.

You can pretty much hear the wheels turning in Robert’s evil head.

Emmerdale:  Robert is caught in the middle of Chrissie and Rebecca’s sibling war. When a spat between the two ends up with Rebecca accidentally shoving Chrissie down the stairs, Robert advises Rebecca to lie to keep herself out of trouble.  Will Rebecca listen to Robert?  And how does it all benefit him?

Dom is about to make a really, really bad choice.

Holby City:  Dom is devastated to learn that while in Hawaii, Isaac cheated on him.   Hurt, Dom begins to reflect on his life and feels that he’s not worthy of being loved.  This forces him to make a desperate, unfortunate decision to hold on to his relationship.

Hollyoaks:  John Paul becomes concerned about Lily.  While, Ste interferes in Ryan’s attempts to get back with Amy.  Harry is annoyed with Ste’s behavior, but not so much that he plans a surprise proposal.  However, Harry’s plans turn out to be a disaster.

Neighbours:  David commits to being a baby daddy.

Robbie and Gary continue the long slog to the end of their relationship.

River City:  Trying to heal the rift between them, Gary and Robbie consider having an open relationship.   The new stud in town Louis just might fit the bill.

Rownd a Rownd:  David tries to make up for his violent behavior towards his girlfriend, but he really wonders how long he can pretend that he isn’t gay and wants to be with Rhys.

Jack stands by his man. Lays down with him too.

Shortland Street:  Mo orders Jack not to see Cam anymore and Jack refuses, wanting to be with the man he loves.   Jack doesn’t realize how far Mo would go to keep Jack and Cam apart.

The Halcyon –   Toby isn’t happy when his mother sets him up on a blind date.  It’s made even worse when the woman is determined to net herself a wealthy heir and chases Toby persistently.   Toby flees to the staff quarters to get away from her where he runs into Adil.  And things quickly heat up between them as they give into their feelings.  Afterwards, when Toby sees Adil again, how will he react?

TEASERS FOR NEXT WEEK

Days of Our Lives:  Paul and Sonny grow closer.

People of the Valley:  Despite his reservations, Iolo agrees to be Sion’s best man.

River City:  Gary goes too far with Louis.

Shortland Street: Jack faces what he’s most afraid of.

The Halcyon: Toby fears Adil has been killed.

I watch a lot of television, probably too much. But can you really watch too much TV? I've yet to find out. Anyway, I especially love TV when they give us positive portrayals of gays, something that has gotten better but we're still fighting for. I've written about gays in television for many years first at the much missed After Elton, then New Now Next and now at TV Source. It's kind of a passion of mine and I look forward to sharing it with you.

  1. So I just watched Shortland Street today …. Looks like they are spinning a story for Leroy now.

P.s. I don’t know what you said or did Anthony, but someone started uploading Le Chalet on YouTube. I am so happy, so ….Thank you! You are amazing :)

  2. Riverdale: Well, a new guilty pleasure. It certainly is interesting that Josie and the Pussycats are all Black in this one. And their music style is a little interesting. Of course Robin Givens as Josie’s mother is interesting, too. Cole Sprouse actually surprised me as Jughead, though it looks like his comic love of hamburgers is virtually all but absent so far. As for Kevin, yeah…they do need to step up his game a bit, because he reminds me of George Smith on Hollyoaks (when he first appeared) with his attitude thus far. Mind you, this was FAR different from Kevin Keller in the comics (up until the revamp), who was less of a queen and more of a strait laced kid. A shame, too, because Berlanti could’ve used that version to good measure.

  3. That’s Cam and Jack from “Shortland Street”.

  4. From what show is the hot couple in the cover?
