The cast of Riverdale journeyed to San Diego Comic-Con over the weekend and spilled plenty of juicy details about The CW series’ upcoming sophomore season. Didn’t make it to Comic-Con this year or need a rundown of all the breaking news from the event? We’ve got you covered.

Toni Topaz is Coming to Town

As revealed by Entertainment Tonight, actress Vanessa Morgan has been cast as bisexual Archie Comics’ character Toni Topaz. Toni is a member of the Southside Serpents who forms a connection with Jughead at Southside High – watch out, Betty!

Fred’s Fate Revealed

Riverdale’s first season ended with the shocking cliffhanger of Archie’s (KJ Apa) dad Fred (Luke Perry) being shot by a masked assailant at Pop’s. Fans will not have to wait long to find out Fred’s fate though – we’ll have an answer by the end of the season two premiere, so start your prayer circles now.

A Different Side of Archie

Watching your father get shot in cold blood isn’t easy on a teen and, according to Archie’s portrayer KJ Apa, we’re going to see “a completely different side of Archie” in the upcoming second season.

Season Two Will Contain 22 Episodes

The sophomore season of Riverdale will be 22 episodes – up from the 13 episodes of season one – which means fans will get extra time to spend with their favorite characters and supporting characters will get more fleshed out roles, including Kevin (Casey Cott) and Josie and the Pussycats (Ashleigh Murray, Asha Bromfield, Hayley Law)

Veronica’s Ex Stirs Up Trouble

Veronica’s (Camila Mendes) spoiled rich girl past was largely unexplored in Riverdale’s debut season, but expect that to change very soon: V’s ex from New York will make an appearance this season and bring out “a darker side” of Ms. Lodge.

A New Man for Kevin Keller

Kevin’s (Casey Cott) former flame Joaquin (Rob Raco) left town at the end of season one but, after dealing with the heartbreak of their split, he will find love again.

Sparks Fly Between Reggie and Josie?

Josie’s portrayer Ashleigh Murray hinted at a potential romance with Reggie (Charles Melton) coming up in season two and we’re already shipping it. Jeggie? Rosie? Help us out here!

Josie and the Pussycats Continue to Slay

You want more Josie and the Pussycats music, you say? The second episode of the sophomore season is set to feature an “epic) performance from our favorite trio.

Another Girl Power Episode is Coming

One of our favorite episodes of the first season was the girl power-focused Body Double, where Veronica and Betty teamed up to take down Chuck Clayton. Lucky for us, we’re set to get another centered around the female friendships of Riverdale coming up in season two’s fifth episode.

A Certain Teenage Witch Might Make Her Way to Town

Sabrina the Teenage Witch coming to Riverdale has been hotly anticipated and teased since before the series even began, but the show’s producers teased that she might make her arrival in season two…fingers crossed!
