Emily’s (Mamie Gummer) love life hasn’t exactly been stellar on “Emily Owens, M.D.” The intern took a chance and professed her love to her best friend Will (Justin Hartley), but was left rejected when he awkwardly told her that he didn’t feel that way about her. If that wasn’t bad enough, Will soon started dating Emily’s nemesis Cassandra (Aja Naomi King) and seeing them together has not been easy for Emily.

 [SPOILERS AHEAD]

In this week’s episode, “Emily and the Love of Larping,” Tyra (Kelly McCreary) and Cassandra try to convince Emily that all she really needs is to get laid. Emily initially scoffs at the idea since she doesn’t really see herself as the walk into a bar and pick up a guy type, but she ultimately agrees to go on a blind date with a friend of Cassandra’s. But the night ends on a negative note when someone suffers a serious allergic reaction.

ICYMI: ‘Emily Owens, M.D.’ Review: Trauma Changes Everything

As far as the patients go, Emily and Will treat a man that is dressed in costume. Will assumes that he is suffering from a psychotic break, but Emily is not convinced that is the case. Dr. Bandari (Necar Zadegan) treats a businesswoman that refuses to slow down while recovering from a heart attack. The patient’s husband confides that he’s planning on leaving his wife once she gets better and that makes Dr. Bandari realize that she needs to give her husband (guest star D.B. Woodside) more attention.

Check out the photos below from the episode directed by Arlene Sanford and written by Ben Zaretsky.

“Emily Owens, M.D.” airs Tuesday, Jan. 8 on The CW.
