CW Orders Pilot For Medical Dramedy 'First Cut'

0

The CW has given a pilot order for First Cut, an hour-long dramedy from Gilmore Girls co-producer Jennie Snyder Urman.

First Cut centers on a newly minted doctor, ready to shed her nerdy past for a clean slate in the professional word. Unfortunately for her, she realizes high school doesn’t necessarily end when you graduate. The quirky series will be more hospital focused similar to ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy and NBC’s ER as opposed to personal relationships of the town like Hart of Dixie.

First Cut is the fourth series the CW has ordered to pilot for the 2012-2013 season — superhero drama Arrow, based on DC’s Green Arrow comic series;  a modern telling of the 1980s series Beauty and the Beast; soapy cop drama Cult; and The Carrie Diaries, a prequel to HBO’s Sex and the City.

Urman will write and executive produce the series along with Dan Jinks (Pushing Daisies). CBS TV Studios is backing the project.
