Mamie Gummer

Mamie Gummer, daughter of Hollywood legend Meryl Streep, has been cast as the lead in the CW’s medical drama pilot, ‘First Cut.’

Gummer (Off The Map) will play Emily, a young doctor who is more than happy to shed her nerdy past for a fresh start in the adult professional world. Sadly and comically for her, life at the hospital where she works is no different than high school.

The hour-long series from CBS Television Studios is helmed by Gilmore Girls co-producer Jennie Snyder Urman, who also serves as executive producer alongside Dan Jinks. Bharat Nalluri is set to direct the pilot. Gummer joins the already cast Justin Hartley (Smallville) as surgical intern Will, Michael Rady (The MentalistMelrose Place 2.0,) as surgical resident Micah, Kelly J. McCreary (White CollarI Just Want My Pants Back) as medical intern Tyra and Aja Naomi King (Person of Interest)
