Major Firings At 'Days of our Lives'

7

Patrick Muldoon and Christie Clark

The bloodbath begins. Just one week after firing its writing team, ‘Days of our Lives’ has begun its cast cuts, letting go Matthew Ashford (Jack), Sarah Brown (Madison), Christie Clark (Carrie) and Patrick Muldoon (Austin).

Soap Opera Digest reports the stars have were told of their upcoming exits. Sarah Brown disputes that aspect of SOD’s report, tweeting: “Don’t know if it’s true, but, who ever leaked that story should consider that no one wants to find out they have lost their job via Twitter.”

Ashford, Muldoon and Clark returned last fall as part of the series’ “reboot”. Brown’s Madison was the first original character created by then-new head writers Marlene McPherson and Darrell Ray Thomas, Jr., introduced in October as a love interest for Eric Martsolf. When teasing the returns and addressing some of the problems on the show at the time, Corday said “There’s also an absence of romance. Who are we rooting for? Clear rooting interests need to be redefined. To do that, you need to re-center the show on characters who have been extremely popular for a long time.”

I guess that theory no longer applies. This is only the first of what is expected to be a series of cast purging by DAYS.

A rep for Days of our Lives could not be reached at press time.

  1. Hate to see Christie Clark and Matt Ashford  leave. Never understood why they bothered with Muldoon
(yawn).  Abe  belong sin Salem. He was there long before Lexie who I will truly miss. Best wishes to her for a long, healthy and peaceful life.

  2. the problem that DOOL had was when they rebooted the show they brought on way too many characters & stories that were going on then got backburnered & forgot about to integrate the returning characters & never picked those stories up again.
now while i loved Austin & Carrie years ago their story this time was so boring i ff through all of it & whoever came up with the Princess Gina/Pawn crap nobody liked it years ago & to do it again……ugh.
i also love how they rewrite history & don’t read what was done years ago & change stuff where there’s no continuity in them.
while i agree that Patrick & Carrie should go, Matthew shouldn’t of been since his story of PTSD is a good one to do.  there’s so many more that should go like Billie, Ian, Roman, Gabi & start writing for Justin & Adrienne & Sonny & Victor & Maggie again, where have they been hiding??????

  3. As much as I love the show I am considering throwing in the towel. I can’t invest in the characters anymore with all the comings and goings. They’re here, they’re not, they’re here again and then they’re gone again. Ridiculous! This behind the scenes shenanigans is what’s going to kill the show.

  4. Sorry about the typo_leakes. Another thing because of the rapid change of writers, how can you keep any continuity. Oh Wait we are talking about Soaps. We don’t care about the history. Write whatever you like.

  5. Who ever leaked it. No one wants to hear this way. They should have been told as soon as a decision was made, They know there are always leakes. Terrible. No feeling for those whose jobs are gone. I do believe there are others, that could have been let go before these three were. Also, no reason to bring Billie back, or Ian on, Gabie could be let go. If it was money, then I bet they would have been willing to discuss that with the powers that be. Awful. I don’t want anyone to lose their jobs, but more thought should have been brought to this.

  6. WHY WOULD THEY GET RID OF MAT?
     Its jack. I mean JACK!
Whoever plays Melanie better get the axe too or i swear there is to justice in the world.

  7. That’s it! I’m done! Ken Corday can take that show and stick it UP his ass SIDEWAYS!
