‘General Hospital’ and ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ on track for renewals

Soap fans have had a lot to cheer about lately. The Young and the Restless is currently two years into its most recent three year renewal from CBS. Days of Our Lives was recently renewed by NBC, Prospect Park is bringing All My Children and One Life to Live to our computers this spring and now it looks like The Bold and the Beautiful and General Hospital are locks for their respective renewals.

On Friday, Deadline reported that CBS is on track to renew The Bold and the Beautiful and ABC has no plans to cancel General Hospital anytime soon (ABC does not give formal renewals for its daytime programs, according to Deadline).

After years of falling ratings and canceled soaps left and right, 2012 brought something of a ratings comeback to daytime. While the numbers are nowhere near what they were in their heydays, the shows are no longer bleeding viewers and have even posted year to year gains. That definitely seems like it’s worth lifting a champagne glass for (even if it’s just to throw it in the face of your worst enemy).
