Another day, another recast at The Young and the Restless. Soap Opera Digest broke news tonight that Y&R has opted to recast the role of Kyle Abbott with Hartley Sawyer. Also: Another back from the dead for General Hospital?

Blake Hood, who took over the role of Jack’s newly aged son in 2012, will last air next month. Hartley Sawyer previously co-starred in the 2010 TBS comedy Glory Daze with Drew Seeley.  His other credits include a guest starring roles Jane by Design, GCB, Don’t Trust the B—- in Apartment 23 and NCIS: Los Angeles. He begins taping the week of March 18.

In other soap news, it looks like General Hospital head writer Ron Carlivati will attempt to re-write yet another wrong in a long series of wrongs done to the canvas over the years. TV Guide exclusively reported today that longtime favorite Chris Robinson will reprise his role as Dr. Rick Webber. Rick was killed in 2002 in a rather awful storyline that saw Laura slip into a catatonic state after she “accidentally” killed him. It was revealed years later that Scotty actually killed Rick.

Carlivati explained his reasons for wanting to bring back the character to TV Guide’s Michael Logan. “I grew up loving Rick and Monica — to me, as a young fan, they were what GH was all about — and I really wanted to find a way to bring Rick back despite his death. I also couldn’t imagine Rick would do some of the horrible things he did in his last appearance. That wasn’t the Rick Webber I remembered!”

  1. why the change up – most people here in KC want Blake back – We can’t get past the bad acting not counting that CHIN!!!

  2. Blake Hood was great in the role of Kyle. This new guy does not fit the character at all. Recast in this case a HUGE mistake.

  3. Bring Blake Back! Hartley Sawyer makes Kyle look like an airhead! Complete opposites! Stop recasting the actors/actresses!!!!

  4. The audience is already gone. It left with Blake Hood. This new guy can’t even act. The old Kyle played the role of a player so well. I hope they drop the entire story line now that Blake Hood is out. What next?

  5. Big mistake…….not good story lines anymore. Gonna lose your audience

  6. Stop replacing actors, bring Blake Hood back. He was a good fit for Kyle Abbott!
It is getting more frustrating watching Y & R, I’ve been a fan for 30 years.

  7. I like Blake Hood for the role of Kyle. I was completely loving his role and not lovin’ the frequent changes Y&R continues doing. I enjoyed Marcey too as Abby and now she’s gone along with Tucker ect. Who’s next? Please slow down the revolving door activity! Not cool.
