In the latest backstage shakeup, TVGuide Canada’s Nelson Branco has reported that Josh Griffith, producer of The Young and the Restless has reportedly been let go. However Soap Opera Digest reports otherwise.
Rumors surfaced of Griffith following the same path of the recently released Days of Our Lives Co Executive Producer Ed Scott began after a Daytime Confidential news report. Both producers, it is alleged, took their headwriter’s scripts and rewrote them. After the Writer’s Guild of America issued a cease and desist order, Griffith allegedly stopped .
However, other sources are saying otherwise. According to Soap Opera Digest, Griffith is still the Executive Producer. An insider representative claims that, “He [Griffith] is still here and still the executive producer”.
Griffith started his career at Santa Barbara as a Script Writer/Associate Head Writer. He then went on to write at One Life to Live and was the co-creator of the short lived NBC soap Sunset Beach. He then moved back to One Life to Live and As the World Turns where he held writing positions. In 2006 he joined the Young and the Restless in both writing and producing capacities. The Young and the Restless is Griffith’s first producing postition.
We’ll continue to follow this story and post updates as warranted.
