Shane's Back! Charles Shaughnessy Returns To DAYS

Fan favorite Charles Shaughnessy to reprise his role as Shane Donovan on “Days of Our Lives.”

Charles Shaughnessy returns to Days of Our Lives as ISA Agent Shane Donovan for a multi-episode arc that includes approximately 10 episodes, but the visit could last longer. An NBC rep confirmed to TV Guide’s Michael Logan that Shaughnessy begins taping on March 22.

Shaughnessy joined the cast of Days of Our Lives in 1984 as Shane Donovan, ISA Agent and husband of Kimberly Brady (Patsy Pease). It was the incredible chemistry of Shaughnessy and Pease that made the duo of Kimberly and Shane a fan favorite amongst Days viewers. Charles continued his role on Days for 8 more years and garnering him 3 Soap Opera Digest Awards (1985, 1986, 1988) and nominated for 3 more SOD Awards in 1990, 1991, and 1992. He returned to Salem for a brief visit in 2002.

In 1993, Charles was cast as the male lead on the hit CBS comedy, The Nanny as Maxwell Sheffield playing opposite Fran Drescher. The show was canceled in 1999, but Charles and Fran played opposite again in Living with Fran from 2005 to 2006.

Charles appeared in a television movie called Mom’s Got A Date with a Vampire as Dimitri Denatos, starring opposite with Caroline Rhea, in 2000. Also during that same year, he appeared in a few episodes opposite Caroline Rhea in the WB series Sabrina. In 2001, Charles’ voice could be heard in a series called Stanley, when he portrayed Dennis the Goldfish, which earned him his first Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Performer in an Animated Program.

In 2002, Charles appeared in the Disney Channel made for TV movie, Get A Clue as Det. Charles Meany. Charles also appeared in Saints and Sinners as August Martin in 2007. He has had several guest appearances in several prime time series including The Mentalist (2009), Hannah Montana (2009), Mad Men (2009), and CSI:NY (2010).
