‘Y&R’ Finds Its New Noah Newman — Newcomer Luke Kleintank

After weeks of searching, “The Young and the Restless” has found its new Noah Newman. Newcomer Luke Kleintank has been cast as the son of Nicholas and Sharon Newman. Soap Opera Digest reports the actor will first appear September 21.

Kleintak appeared in a few episodes of the hit CW series “Gossip Girl” as Elliot, a bisexual love interest for Eric van der Woodsen (played by Connor Paulo). The actor’s other credits include “Mercy,” “The Good Wife,” and “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.”

Noah’s former portrayer Kevin Schmidt exited the show earlier this year when he landed a lead role in the Cartoon Network original series, “Unnatural History.” In January, the star wrote on Facebook that he had filmed his last episode for a couple months. At the time, it was believed he would return to the soap later in the year; however this proved not to be the case. Last month the actor tweeted, “I have not been asked to return as Noah. A huge thank you to the cast and crew! Onward and upwards!” Schmidt last aired on February 9.

According to the casting call, Y&R was looking for an actor in his “early to mid-20’s,” and said the character is “a grounded, sensitive young man with a strong aversion to drama and tension” and has “a rebellious side.” The call also stated that Noah was just out of a serious relationship.
