All My Children signs Lindsay Hartley (ex-Arianna, DAYS) and Jordi Vilasuso (ex-Tony, GL) to contract roles.

Soap Alumni Headed to Pine Valley!

Yesterday, news broke of Emmy winner Jordi Vilasuso (ex-Tony, GL) and fan favorite Lindsay Hartley (soon-to-be-ex-Arianna, DAYS) joining cast of ABC’s All My Children in contract roles. This news comes one day after the announcement of the departures of Adam Mayfield (Scott) and Brittany Allen (Marissa).

Vilasuso first airs on November 15 as Griffin Castillo. Hartley will play Cara Finn, airing less than a month later on December 8. Both characters are connected to the upcoming storyline involving Jake (Ricky Paull Goldin) and Amanda (Chrishell Stause). Exactly how Hartley and Vilasuso factor into their storyline is unknown, but might their involvement have something to do with what was previewed in ABC Soaps in Depth?

Last month, co-head writer David Kreizman previewed some of Jake & Amanda’s new storyline in the September 6th issue. “Something that happened to Jake while he was off camera will come to affect their marriage.” Reportedly Jake’s past will have a connection to Kendall’s story. Kriezman revealed to SID that new characters will come to Pine Valley due to Zach helping out a family member.

Vilasuso originated the role of Tony Santos on CBS’ Guiding Light in 2000, a role he played until 2003. The actor earned two Emmy nominations for Outstanding Younger Actor for his work, in 2002 and 2003. He took home the Emmy in 2003, beating the likes of Chad Brannon (ex-Zander, GH), Kyle Lowder (Ric, B&B; ex-Brady, DAYS), Aiden Turner (ex-Aidan, AMC) and David Lago (ex-Raul-Y&R). Vilasuso’s continued to work since leaving GL, appearing in numerous films and guest spots in primetime. In 2006 he returned to his soap roots, appearing in the MyNetwork TV primetime telenovela series Fashion House, alongside Robert Buckley (Lipstick Jungle, One Tree Hill), Bo Derek, Morgan Fairchild and Taylor Kinney (The Vampire Diaries).

Hartley is best known for her portrayal of Theresa Lopez-Fitzgerald Crane on NBC’s Passions from 1999 to 2008. While on Passions she earned three Soap Opera Digest Award nominations —  In 2000, for Outstanding Female Newcomer, again in 2003 for Outstanding Younger Lead Actress, and in 2005 for Favorite Triangle, in which she shared the nomination with Justin Hartley and Brooke Kerr. In 2009 she replaced Felisha Terrell as Arianna Hernandez on Days of Our Lives, reuniting her with former co-stars Eric Martsolf (Brady; ex-Ethan, PSNS) and Galen Gering (Rafe; ex-Louis, PSNS). Hartley was let go from DAYS in July.
