Fan favorite Ted King is heading to ‘One Life to Live.’

Former ‘General Hospital’ Star Ted King Joining ‘One Life to Live’

If you’ve missed your daily dose of Ted King, get ready to see him in a brand new light! Entertainment Weekly reports the popular actor is joining the cast of ABC’s One Life to Live.

Though there isn’t much information available on King’s new role, what is known is he’ll be working with Kassie DePaiva (Blair)…a lot. The actor tells Entertainment Weekly he’s still developing his character with OLTL producers. His first airdate is tentatively set for January 21, 2010.

Why is King returning to soaps? “It was an opportunity I couldn’t pass up on. When I was originally hired for General Hospital, it was for a short period of time,” he said to EW. “I had every intention of going back to primetime. During that time, I really enjoyed myself with the role – a lot more than I thought.”

For five years, King played mobsters Luis and Lorenzo Alcazar on General Hospital. What was initially a short-term role (Luis) turned into a rather lengthy stay when the character of Lorenzo was introduced in 2003 after Luis’ death. The never ending war between Lorenzo and rival Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Benard) went deeper than just feuding over territory. Like most soap rivalries, a woman was at the center of all the drama. Lorenzo’s obsession with Sonny’s wife was the catalyst for a series of battles between the two men.

King heated up screens with his off the charts chemistry with leading lady Tamara Braun (then-Carly). It was rumored the series would reunite Carly & Lorenzo once Laura Wright (King’s love interest on the defunct series Loving and The City) took over the role in late 2005, but it wasn’t meant to be. After a romance with Robin Christopher’s Skye, Lorenzo was written off GH when his character was “killed” by Sonny’s mob-enforcer (and Skye’s adoptive brother) Jason Morgan.

Upon leaving GH, the actor appeared on Prison Break and CSI: Miami. Previously, King starred in the first season of the WB’s supernatural drama Charmed, playing Inspector Andy Trudeau; also appearing on JAG, Law & Order: SVU, Frasier and The Division.
