ABC reveals the celebrity cast for its new series, ‘Skating with the Stars.’

ABC Announced Celebrity Cast for ‘Skating with the Stars’

Last night on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars results show, host Tom Bergeron announced the six celebrities who will compete on the the inaugural season of Skating with the Stars. The two hour series premiere is is set for November 22 at 9PM/EST. Consider it Dancing with the Stars on ice.

The cast of celebrities cross a wide spectrum — reality, film, television, music and soaps. Contestants include daytime star and Daytime Emmy Award nominee Rebecca Budig (Greenlee, All My Children); reality star, best selling author and chef, Bethenny Frankel (The Real Housewives of New York and Bethenny Getting Married?); Olympic skier Johnny Moseley; musician and reality star Vince Neil; Disney star Brandon Mychal Smith; and television, film and now soap star Sean Young (Meggie, The Young and the Restless).

All six couples will take to the ice with their professional partners for the first time in front of a live audience on Monday, November 22, with couples performing high-paced ice dancing moves and dazzling figure skating routines. Couples will need to be perfectly in sync, since the ice is unforgiving of even the smallest mistake. The couple with the lowest ranking following the judges’ scores and the public’s votes will be sent home the following week.

In 2006, FOX tried to capture the success of Dancing with the Stars with its Skating with Celebrities — a reality competition borrowing elements from American Idol and DWTS that featured celebrities dancing & performing on ice. Its cast included Olympic Gold Medalist Bruce Jenner, actress Kristy Swanson, actor Todd Bridges, singer Deborah Gibson and comedian Fave Coulier. The series did not perform well and was not renewed for another season. Let’s hope ABC fares better with its series.
