Has ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’ parted ways with Kyle Lowder? Conflicting reports call into question his status.

Conflicting Reports of Kyle Lowder’s Exit

Has Kyle Lowder been let go from The Bold and the Beautiful?

Friday morning, Soap Opera Digest published a report announcing the exit of the star from The Bold and the Beautiful.  According to SOD, Lowder says he was informed by executive producer and head writer Bradley Bell that the show had no story for him. “Brad called this morning and said he felt terrible that they haven’t been able to generate enough stories for the character. He felt it was in everybody’s best interest that we go in different directions.” In his quote to SOD, Lowder went on to describe his exit as an “amicable situation” and that he wasn’t surprised by the development, thanking Bell for giving him a chance to work on the show.

However…CBS Soaps In Depth heard a different story. When they contacted B&B for comment, Bell revealed that while Lowder is off contract, he would continue to recur with the series. “Kyle Lowder’s four year run as Rick Forrester on The Bold and the Beautiful has been a tremendous success,” said the show runner. “Kyle is a superb actor and a fine gentleman. Kyle will continue on with the show on a recurring basis.”

It’s not uncommon for B&B take actors off contract, only to put them back on once a story is in place for them. Similar situations occurred with Drew Tyler Bell (ex-Thomas) and Lesli Kay (Felicia). Lowder joined B&B in 2007 after a five year run on Days of Our Lives as Brady Black (2000-2005). The actor was nominated in 2003 for a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Younger Actor.
