The Lying Game Recap: "Pleased To Meet Me"

0

The bitch is back, guys, and with her, the show seemed to pick up some of its pace again. This week Sutton Mercer stepped back into her clothes, her house, her family, and most importantly her life. She maintained that someone tried to kill her that night in her car. The only question is who?

Sutton’s arrival caused Emma, Thayer, and Ethan to question what happened to her, but everything proved to be true thanks to security camera footage. Annie Hobbs saved her life, tended to her in a hotel room, didn’t want her to leave, and disappeared when Sutton left anyway. Unfortunately, there’s no way to prove whether Sutton’s sudden change of heart about Ethan and Thayer is true. Neither believed her apologies or desire to have them in her life as friends. Quite frankly, I don’t either. A leopard can’t change its spots.

That may different in the case of Ryan Harwell, who showed back up at school and seems to have a rocky past with Sutton and her girlfriends. So far, nothing seems too fishy about him yet. He’s rich, attractive, and has a crush on Mads, but given that those characteristics usually come with baggage on this show, who knows what he’s hiding?

Sutton and Ryan’s arrivals were followed by a benefit thrown by Rebecca and Kristin and that’s where things got a little hectic. Emma showed up to the benefit with Laurel, who was upset that Justin was there with some brunette hanging on his arm. Meanwhile, Sutton got herself dolled up as the Mercer house was broken in to and headed straight to the benefit. Thayer met her outside and they were intercepted by her mother, to whom Sutton gladly revealed herself, bleeding forehead and all. She blamed a fall to the curb for her injury and staked claim on her life. With the cut on her forehead, there was no choice but for Sutton and Emma to swap places again.

Inside the event, Rebecca approached a poutingLaurelabout her musical talents after spying on her singing in the Mercer’s home.Laurelis too shy for the stage, but Rebecca thinks otherwise. Does she have an ulterior motive for gettingLaurelon stage to perform with the band?

After the benefit wrapped up,Laurelran into Justin outside, who revealed a lackluster secret. Her father killed his mother when he botched the removal of her appendix. According to reports, Ted received a phone call that left him distracted and disappeared after letting an intern finish up Justin’s mother’s surgery. The lights turned on in Laurel’s head and she realized everything with Justin had been planned out. He wanted to meet her that day in the park and he dated her because she’s Ted’s daughter. Considering the build up to Justin’s secret, his private moments of anger and box of secrets, there better be more to this secret. Otherwise, it was just a waste. I’m betting there is more to it.

Meanwhile, Alec helped Rebecca clean up and started to talk about the past. She cut him off and suggested they start fresh because it’d be a lot more fun. These two clearly have a messy past and I can’t wait to find out what it is, but in the meantime, I’ll sit back and enjoy their sizzling chemistry.

Back at the Mercer house, Sutton sank back into life with her parents, her father noticing that the bruise on her forehead seemed a few days old. Emma accepted that she was Emma Becker again more easily than I thought she would. The Mercers have become the family she’s always wanted, but ending up with Ethan seems to be enough for her. She and Sutton were bound to swap places again at some point, but I’m just not ready, especially when there are still so many questions floating around. What is Ryan’s secret? Where is Annie Hobbs? What happened between Alec and Rebecca? Is there more to Justin’s secret? Most importantly, what happens to Emma now? I’m looking forward to finding out.
