Soap vet Robin Mattson to return to the ‘GH’ canvas this spring.
Port Charles’ resident head case is making a return this spring when Robin Mattson reprises the role of Heather Webber. Soap Opera Digest reports the veteran actress will begin airing in late March/early April for a storyline involving her Heather’s son Steven (played by Scott Reeves).
The baby selling, scheming con-woman returned to Port Charles in 2004 after a 20 year absence in a rather awful storyline written by then-head writer Bob Guza Jr. The arc involved Heather returning under the guise of reconnecting with her family. Heather used the death of Edward’s wife Lila to scheme her way into a marriage (which she did), then kill him and take his money (which failed). She also kidnapped Laura and hid her from her family, hoping to blackmail Luke into marriage before she’d reveal her location. Luke turned the tables on Heather, having her arrested and later committed to the Ferncliff mental institution. Heather’s relationship with Steven was barely acknowledged, save for a passing scene in which Steven (then Shaun Benson) wanted nothing to do with her.
Mattson’s appeared on eight different soap operas since her daytime career started in 1976. She portrayed Hope Bauer on Guiding Light, Delia Reid on Ryan’s Hope, Gina Blake on Santa Barbara, Janet Green on All My Children, Sugar on The Bold and the Beautiful, Cheri Love on As the World Turns and Lee Michaels on Days of our Lives.
