ABC’s New Daytime Promo: “Why Just Watch, When You Can Feel?”

ABC unveiled a new network promo today, highlighting its daytime lineup featuring General Hospital, The View and The Chew. The network asks viewers, “Why Just…?”

The tagline: “Why just live when you can love? Why just smile when you can laugh? Why just watch when you can feel?”

Featured prominently throughout the promo are scenes with stars from ABC’s flagship soap opera, General Hospital, which celebrated its 50th anniversary in April. GH stars showcased are: Laura Wright (Carly), Sean Kanan (AJ), Kelly Monaco (Sam), Finola Hughes (Anna), Ian Buchanan (Duke), Kelly Sullivan (Connie), Maurice Benard (Sonny), Chad Duell (Michael), Dominic Zamprogna (Dante), Emme Rylan (Lulu), Genie Francis (Laura) and Tony Geary (Luke).

Also featured are the hosts of The View and The Chew.

My Pov: I love it. Very simple but effective. GH is featured heavily in the promo (as it should) and various faces are included. I believe this may be the first promo campaign for the ABC Daytime lineup since the cancellation of One Life to Live and All My Children. I hope the network goes a step further and creates character promos similar to ones that ran in the late 90s/early 00s
