Marcel’s (Charles Michael Davis) vampire army might rule the French Quarter for the time being, but the witch population continues to grow in New Orleans. Chicago Fire’s Alexandra Metz has signed on for a magical part on The Originals.

The actress will play Katie, a beautiful and mysterious witch with a hidden agenda that will have shocking ramifications on for the supernatural community, according to Deadline.

As fans will recall from the backdoor pilot, Klaus’ (Joseph Morgan) former protégé Marcel has taken away the freedom to practice magic from the French Quarter witches. Needless to say they are not happy about it and Sophie (Daniella Pineda) has teamed up with Klaus and Elijah (Daniel Gillies) to put an end to Marcel’s reign.

It remains to be seen what role Katie will play in this, but she is the second new witch being introduced. Earlier this month, former All My Children actress Shannon Kane was cast in the role of Sabine, a leading member of the witch community. Will Katie be teaming up with her?

Metz recently played Elise Mills on Chicago Fire and her past TV roles included Gossip Girl, Blue Bloods and The Good Wife.

The Originals premieres Thursday, Oct. 3 at 9/8c on The CW.
