Mary Stuart (Adelaide Kane) won’t be the only new face at the French Court when The CW debuts its new drama “Reign” this fall. Israeli actress Yael Grobglas has signed on to join the cast and it doesn’t sound like she’s there to support the future queen.
Grobglas will be playing Olivia, an Italian noblewoman, who is an old flame of Prince Francis (Toby Regbo), also known as the man Mary is there to marry. According to E! News, which first reported the casting, Olivia will be a threat to Mary’s relationship and could also threaten the future of more than one country.
“Reign” tells the story of a young Mary, Queen of Scots, and her time at the French Court as she prepares to marry Prince Francis in what is basically a strategic alliance between the two countries. It sounds like Olivia might want to throw a wrench into those plans before the couple can say ‘I do’.
Grobglas starred in the pilot for “The Selection,” which The CW passed on this spring for the second time. Her past credits include an Israeli horror film, “Kalevet.”
“Reign” premieres Thursday, Oct. 17 at 9/8c on The CW.
