Finishing up with a strong first season, MTV announced today the season two pick-up of its newest scripted comedy series, Faking It for 10 episodes. The season one finale of the hit series airs tomorrow night, June 10th at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT. It all comes to a head as secrets and true feelings are revealed and a shocking twist occurs. Check out an exclusive sneak peek here.
MTV’s Faking It is a romantic comedy about two best friends who love each other – in slightly different ways. After numerous failed attempts to become popular, the girls are mistakenly outed as lesbians, which launch them to instant celebrity status. Seduced by their newfound fame, Karma (Katie Stevens) and Amy (Rita Volk) decide to keep up their romantic ruse.
“We’re thrilled to be renewing ‘Faking It!’ ‘Faking It’ has proved to be the perfect companion show to ‘Awkward,’ retaining nearly 90 percent of its lead in each week,” said Susanne Daniels, President of MTV Programming. “We’re excited about Carter Covington’s delicious plans for season two.”
Faking It is the highest-rated new series launch on MTV this year, earning an average of 1.5 rating among P12-34 and 1.4 million total viewers each week. The series retains nearly 90 percent of its lead-in from Awkward. Faking It consistently ranks as one of the Top 10 most socially-engaged primetime cable series every Tuesday, according to Nielson Social. The series is one of the top shows viewed both on MTV.com and in the app, consistently ranking as one of the most popular franchises. It was also the most successful pre-linear sneak in MTV’s app.
