TVSource Magazine staff headed out to Studio City, CA for the 2014 General Hospital Fan Club Weekend, the annual fan club extravaganza in which stars from ABC’s General Hospital get up close and personal with their fans from all around the world.
The General Hospital Fan Cast Event, which took place Aug. 2, featured the current cast and almost everyone showed up. This was my first year attending the General Hospital Fan Club Weekend and I’ll be honest, I was expecting a little bit of chaos. I had heard tales of shoving in long lines, cranky actors, and wildly inappropriate fans. I am happy to say I didn’t really encounter any of that. For the most part, everyone was polite and there to have a good time. I enjoyed meeting some nice fans and beautiful stars.
The event started with silent auctions for props from the show as well as autographed scripts and photos. There was some really nice memorabilia available. This was also a great opportunity for fans to mingle with each other and introduce themselves to the fellow fans that they met on Facebook or Twitter.
Once the auctions were done, everyone dined at their assigned tables. The meal was a basic three course chicken dinner similar to what you would get at a wedding party. I thought it was good. The mango mouse cake for dessert was a fun and elegant way to end the meal. Special thanks to my table mate and Julexis army member Trish for holding my plate for me so I could move around and take pictures.
After lunch, the real fun started. John J York, who was sporting an awesome pair of pink plaid trousers, was the MC and introduced his fellow cast members as they all took the stage. Dominic Zamprogna was in the audience with a microphone so fans could ask questions. Everyone looked great and like they were having a good time.
The cast then divided up and went to their own tables for individual meet and greets and autograph signings. The longest lines this year belong to fan club weekend virgins Michelle Stafford and Maura West. Both ladies seemed to have a lot of fun interacting with fans and loved being a part of General Hospital. The popular Michael Easton also once again had a long line as did William DeVry, who stood the longest so that everyone could get a chance to meet him.
The individual meet and greets were my favorite part of the event. It gave fans a chance for a little personal interaction with many of the cast members. I had a lot of fun joking around with Zachary Garred about Levi and telling Michelle Stafford how much I loved Nina Clay. It was also a great time to interact with other fans as I waited in line. I met fan Tom Eric who had traveled all the way from his home in Norway to be there. Soap fans really are the best.

GH is the only soap I like every character but not every single couple (only two couples I don’t like on GH is SIAM and Ava/Sonny).
I adore Kristen and Chad they are so cute together on and off screen!
I can’t stand how rude people how to Jackie Zerman (Bobbie) for her plastic surgery; here’s a short story about it she had to do it because she had a injure.
PS I love Bobbie and Scotty (Kin Shriner) together; I hope they will have a relationship together again; I used to be a Scotty and Laura fan.
